MANILA, Philippines — The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has tasked the Philippine National Police (PNP) and all local government units (LGUs) in the country to ensure that regulations on firecrackers are being strictly enforced this holiday season.
DILG’s directive aims to prevent any accidents caused by firecrackers.
The department targets to lower down firecracker-related injuries this year.
Under the Republic Act No. 7183, the PNP determines the type of illegal firecrackers and sets the regulation to prevent its use.
Local chief executives, meanwhile, may construct regulation against firecrackers in their respective areas.
Meanwhile, under the Executive No. 28 of President Rodrigo Duterte, firecrackers may be use in community fireworks display only under the supervision of a trained personnel accredited by the PNP.
“Upang maiwasan ang anumang sakuna o sunog na dulot ng paputok, kailangang ipatupad ng mga LGUs ang kautusan laban sa paggamit ng paputok,” said DILG Sec. Eduardo Año. — UNTV News & Rescue
