
A security guard was arrested Friday morning after she was caught carrying a gun with live ammunition at Taft MRT-3 station.
According to the initial report of local authorities, 28-year-old Emelyn Batocabe Zapra was caught carrying a 9mm gun with eight live ammunition inside her bag during entry inspection.
Zapra, who works as a security guard of Advance Forces Security and Investigation Services Inc., has been charged with violation Republic Act No. 10591 or Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act and the Omnibus Election Code.
The statement of the Department of Transportation Metrorail Transit 3 (DoTr-MRT 3) said that due to the incident, they will also heighten its security measures.
“We seek our passengers’ patience and full cooperation as we further tighten the security measures being implemented in our trains and stations. Please note that these measures are being enforced to protect the safety and security of our passengers,” they said.
The DOTr-MRT 3 also encourages passengers to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious items, individuals, activities to security personnel. —Aileen Cerrudo
