MANILA, Philippines – President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to convene soon the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC), a Cabinet official said Wednesday.
Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said this is to discuss the chief executive’s policies that were laid out for the second half of his term in his fourth State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 22.
“President Rodrigo Duterte will convene the LEDAC soon. We just have to find a schedule. We still have to make the necessary arrangements,” Nograles told reporters.
LEDAC is where the president, members of his Cabinet and Congressional and local leaders will tackle the administration’s legislative agenda and its effect on the government’s national development plan.
Nograles said Malacañang has already coordinated with Senate President Vicente Sotto III and House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano for the schedule of the meeting.
“The House and Senate have just been organized. And they haven’t fully organized yet in terms of electing Chairpersons, Vice Chairs and members of the committees. So, let’s give them some time first before PRRD convenes LEDAC,” he said.
Duterte’s legislative priorities include the remaining packages for the Comprehensive Tax Reform Program, new version of the Salary Standardization Law to include Teachers and Nurses, Rightsizing of the national government, the creation of a trust fund for coconut farmers, the National Defense Act, the Unified Personnel Separation, Retirement and Pension Bill, the Mandatory Reserved Officers Training Corps (ROTC) in Grades 11 and 12, the establishment of the Department of Disaster Resilience and the National Land Use Act.
