MANILA, Philippines — Mayor Isko Domagoso has ordered the relief of the precinct commander of Plaza Miranda after seeing a congested, dirty Carriedo street on Wednesday (July 24).
During his midnight roving around the city, Mayor Isko in his live vlog couldn’t contain his irritation upon seeing piles of garbage and a series of vendors along the street.
”Makakadaan pa ba? Walang daan paano pati sa gitna ng kalye, basura, vendor, (Can we drive through? There’s no space anymore because even the center of the street is occupied by garbage and vendors),” Domagoso said while telling his driver to enter the vending-busy street.
Aside from the piles of stinky garbage, makeshift tents of returning vendors were also found adding congestion to the area.
“Sino nga yung major dito? Ipa-relieve yan bukas, (Who is the [police] major here? I will have him relieved tomorrow),” the visibly annoyed Mayor said.
Domagoso had previously ordered the clearing of Carriedo of illegal vendors in his first days in office.
“Ito po ang Carriedo, (This is Carriedo,) “Nasa paligid (ang vendors). Ang Carriedo sinabi ko huwag nilang babalikan, (Vendors are everywhere. I told them not to return to Carriedo),” Moreno said aboard his vehicle while showing the surroundings.
“Vendors talaga ang nagkakalat ng basura, (Vendors are really the source of garbage),” he added.
Last week, Domagoso ordered the relief of a Lawton Police Precinct commander after finding the Bonifacio Shrine filthy after it was turned into a public toilet left with mounds of human waste.
