Resigned PNP Chief Director General Alan Purisima and CHR Commissioner Etta Rosales (UNTV News)

MANILA, Philippines – Although the resignation of suspended PNP Chief Alan Purisima is still awaiting confirmation, the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) said that he is not exempted from the investigation and accountability if it will be proven that he is behind Mamasapano incident that resulted in the death of 44 members of Philippine National Police Special Action Force (PNP-SAF).

CHR Chairperson Etta Rosales said that all who will be proven liable on the death of SAF 44 must face charges.

“It doesn’t mean that the story ends when you resigned, the investigation should push through,” she said.

Meanwhile, Rosales advised relieved PNP-SAF chief Getulito Napeñas to be careful on what he said on media.

This is to avoid confusion and to give way to the investigations being done by different agencies.

“My advise to Gen. Napeñas, it is better for him to stop,” CHR chairperson added.

Meanwhile, CHR is also conducting investigation on the Mamasapano incident.

After they talked to the families on the Fallen 44, the Chairperson is in favor of the suggestions to give the $5 million reward money to the families of SAF 44, now that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has confirmed the death of Marwan. (Grace Casin / UNTV News)
