MANILA, Philippines — The Social Security System or SSS is set to provide calamity relief package to its members and pensioners in areas badly hit by typhoon Lando.
Under the calamity relief package, SSS members can avail of the salary loan early renewal program where they will be allowed to renew their salary loans earlier than the scheduled date.
They can also avail of the SSS Housing Loan for Repairs and/or Improvement program which has only 6% interest.
SSS pensioners may loan their 3-month pension under the SSS and employees compensation program.
Boobie Angela Ocay, assistant vice president of Member Loans Department at SSS clarified that only those who live in areas declared under state of calamity by the NDRRMC can avail of the calamity package.
In cases where the member works in Manila but permanently resides in a calamity-hit area based on records, said member may still avail of the loan and file application at the nearest SSS branch.
According to NDRRMC spokesperson Mina Marasigan, local government units must submit a resolution to the agency, before provinces can be officially declared in a state of calamity.
SSS members and pensioners may avail of the calamity package from October 26 to December 31 this year. (UNTV News)
