QUEZON PROVINCE, Philippines (May 9, 2016) — Around a thousand voters staged a protest in front of the Comelec office in Lucban, Quezon on election day Monday due to various reasons.
Missing and switched names were among the reasons voters in Quezon failed to cast their votes. These voters were dismayed for waiting for the response of Comelec whether they would still be allowed to vote.
Acting Election Officer Attorney Ronald Rosales explained that since they were merely searching for 20 missing names, they surely can make a way for them to cast their votes.
Meanwhile, Comelec will investigate whether those who complained were truly registered and have their biometrics taken. The agency will also verify all registered voters that have their biometrics taken have voted.
