Newly installed Zambales Governor Amor Deloso immediately ordered the cease of operation in the mountains of Sta. Cruz, Zambales where soil is being sold to China for it to build artificial island in the West Philippine Sea.

The governor said, the newly established Chinese military base in the area has become alarming.

“They have airport near the Scarborough. They have missile stations. They have silo. Silo is where the missile hidden in a tunnel under the island,” Deloso said.

The Scarborough shoal was a traditional fishing area of Filipino fishermen and has an area equivalent to three municipalities of Zambales.

Deloso advised the fishermen not to venture in the area because five Chinese ships are currently in position guarding it.

DENR secretary Gina Lopez says she would punish whoever permitted the operation.

“Whoever was remiss in another country taking our soil to be used as their landfill, [well] heads would roll,” warns Sec. Lopez.

DENR suspended six mining operations, four in Zambales and two in Palawan.

The secretary says residents in the area have been affected by mining operations because their harvest had became slow plus the bodies of water such as the rivers and the sea has become polluted.

Other mining operations are now under audit.
