Newly-appointed National Youth Commission (NYC) Chairperson Undersecretary Cariza “Aiza” Seguerra announces that the agency will provide drug rehabilitation to youth involved in illegal drug operations in the country.
According to the new chair, this is the commission’s contribution to President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign against illegal drugs in the country.
However, Seguerra says NYC members are yet to discuss in a meeting the details of their plan.
Meanwhile, Seguerra shares that she wants to immediately visit all the regions in the country to personally see the condition of the youth.
According to Seguerra, Pres. Duterte’s directive is to eliminate marginalization in the youth sector.
Because of this, she will make it a point to have the voices of the youth to be heard including those belonging to the LGBT community and the indigenous groups.
“My advocacy is to give voices to every youth sector and to create policies to better their situation, given a certain situation in their lives.”
Seguerra officially takes office as the youth commission’s new chairperson after her oath-taking held at the NYC Central Office in Quezon City.
