Pangulong Aquino, dadalo sa ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit sa Tokyo

MANILA, Philippines — Nakatakdang pumunta sa Tokyo, Japan si Pangulong Benigno Aquino III para sa ASEAN-Japan Commemorative Summit sa December 12 hanggang 14.

Ang nasabing summit ay culminating event sa isang taong aktibidad sa pagdiriwang ng 40 taon ng ASEAN-Japan relations.

Ayon kay Department of Foreign Affairs Spokesperson Raul Hernandez, dadaluhan ng pangulo ang ilang bilateral events, meetings at activities na may kaugnayan sa naturang summit.

“The leaders of ASEAN and Japan, while looking back on the accomplishment of the past 40 years, will primarily set the future direction of ASEAN-Japan relations, to cover politico-security, economic and socio-cultural cooperation. They will also exchange views on regional and international issues,” ani Hernandez.

Dalawang outcome documents ang inaasahan sa summit: (1) ang vision statement ng ASEAN-Japan friendship and cooperation at ang implementasyon nito, at; (2) ang joint statement ng ASEAN-Japan summit.

Magpo-focus sa medium to long-term cooperation sa pagitan ng ASEAN at Japan ang vision statement, habang sa regional at international issues naman ang joint statement.

Bukod dito, magkakaroon din ng meeting si Pangulong Aquino kay Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.

“During the meeting, the 2 leaders will discuss cooperation on disaster management and reconstruction in the wake of Typhoon Yolanda, economic concerns, maritime cooperation, people-to-people exchanges and the Mindanao peace process. The two leaders will also exchange views on prevailing regional issues of mutual concern.”
