CALBAYOG CITY, Philippines – Authorities seized over 800 kilograms of smuggled chorizo at Calbayog City Port on Tuesday, June 5.
The contraband was seized in a joint operation conducted by personnel from the Calbayog City Veterinary Office, Coast Guard, Philippine Navy and the Philippine National Police.
The smuggled goods, valued at around P100,000 were placed inside 20 boxes of apples supposedly bound for Catbalogan, Catarman and San Jose in Northern Samar.
Authorities are investigating the owners of the contraband as they intensify their monitoring against delivery of “botcha’ or double-dead meat in the region. – UNTV News & Rescue
