MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte is serious in eradicating terrorism and rebellion in the country according to Malacanang.
Based on the report of Global Terrorism Index in 2018 by the Institute for Economics and Peace, the Philippines is ranked tenth among countries most-affected by terrorism.
Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said that this is the reason for the Chief Executive’s martial law declaration in Mindanao and its extensions.
Panelo noted that the Duterte administration is not neglecting terrorism and the goal of the government to totally overpower rebellion through intensification of services to solve extreme poverty which is believed to cause uprising or armed struggle.
The spokesperson added that President Duterte remains “focused and steadfast in fulfilling his constitutional mandate to serve and protect the Filipino people.” — UNTV News & Rescue
